Yes!! The 2 Minute DrillHello, Summer is weird, have you noticed that too? It's over 100 degrees outside, and I'm freezing inside. Oh well, that's technology for you. Everything has both an advantage and a disadvantage, even if they are subtle advantages or disadvantages. What I want to talk with you about today is a subtle distinction, a piece of subtle technology, if you will. What I want to show you is the power of "Yes!" Specifically, there are 2 things I'm referring to: 1) Yes as affirmation in it's own right. By the way I'm doing a series of articles right now on affirmations. We will cover a vast array of other topics as those of you who have been with me for a while will instantly recognize. 2) How to use Yes to add power, impact, conviction, and depth to virtually any affirmation of your choosing. Michael Hall, the creator of NeuroSemantics uses "Yes!" to install positive empowering beliefs. You can do that too. Most of us, it seems have many subtle, yet compelling fears. Two of these fears which are nearly universal are the twin fears of rejection and failure. Failure is sort of an "Oh - No!", while rejection lives as a flat out "No." Often many of us fear that we will fail or that someone will reject us in some way. The word "No" is generally, for most people, a disempowering anchor. Period. On the flip side, the word "Yes!" is mostly a very empowering anchor. A very empowering set of associations can be accessed through the use of "Yes!" We can amplify this even further by using our bodies in ways that naturally occur when we feel resourceful and empowered. The 2 Minute Drill 0. Measure your state on scale of 1 to 10, where 10 would be you are feeling absolutely wonderful and empowered. 1. Take a deep breath 2. Pull your shoulders back a bit 3. Look up at about 30 to 45 degrees, without fixing your gaze on any particular thing. We are not using this to induce a trance, so do not focus on a particular thing. The purpose is to access a visual state of mind, which is generally a resourceful state. 4. Smile, even if you don't feel like it. 5. Emphatically say "YES!" outloud. 6. Repeat the above 5 steps continuously for at least 2 minutes 7. Measure your state again on a scale from 1 to 10, again 10 is you feeling really, really great. Did you notice a difference in the quality of your state? Now, Yes can also be used to quickly add to any other affirmation. I got this from watching television evangelists. I notice a pattern that some of them had in common. Many of them would weave the word "Yes" multiple times into their presentation. As I was watching and listening to these folks, I started getting hyped up. It was like they were celebrating what they just said. Michael Hall calls this process "Meta-Stating". That is you are bringing the power of "Yes" to bear on whatevery you just said, thus increasing the impact. We can be evalangists in our own minds. Here's how: 1) Pick an affirmation that you regularly use. I enjoy this "Affirmation Stack" - I like myself, I can do it, I do it now. 2) Add in the word "Yes", at the very beginning. My affirmation becomes --> Yes, I like myself, I can do it, I do it now. 3) Add the word "Yes" after every major thought in your affirmation. With my affirmation we get --> Yes!, I like myself, Yes!, I can do it, Yes! I do it now. 4) Tag a "Yes" at the end of the affirmation. --> Yes! I like myself, Yes!, I can do it, Yes! I do it now. Yes! 5) Say your Yesed Up affirmation a few dozen times, and enjoy the result.
