A vow is defined as:
1. a solemn promise, pledge, or personal commitment: marriage vows;
2. a solemn promise made to a deity or saint committing oneself to an act, service, or condition.
3. a solemn or earnest declaration.

Ever hear of anyone breaking a vow? Occasionally it's a matter of survival, in most other cases, when a vow is broken it's because the vow was not made at the very depths of being and integrated thoroughly with every aspect of a person.
